Online Teaching Resources: A New Journal Section

چکیده

The Journal of Economic Education (JEE) has been an Internet leader among economic journals, beginning with a Web page in 1995 that included abstracts and a search engine for articles published since 1984. Full text of articles in pdf became available in 1998. This issue of the JEE inaugurates another innovation, a new section called Online. In addition to finding descriptive notes published in each issue of the JEE, Web users can access these successfully refereed sites at http://www.indiana.edu/~econed/. Online tech n o l ogy has the potential to revo l u t i o n i ze teaching and learn i n g. Fo r t e a ch e rs of economics, the medium may not be the message, but sure ly it shapes the m e s s age. How do authors of economics teaching mat e rials envision using the Web to promote learning of economics? And how do other economics teach e rs fi n d online re s o u rces that fit their teaching styles and needs? The J E E will document and highlight some of the best and most innovat ive Web sites for teaching economics. The primary goal of the Online section is to identify exemplary material for teaching and learning economics that is interactive or otherwise not conducive to traditional printed-page format. Online will provide a timely outlet for noncommercial work by economists and educators who are creating teaching materials using innovative electronic technology. Notes describing material at accepted sites will be published in the JEE and on the JEE Web site with links to the site.
